IMS to make big announcement for Indy GP weekend (Update)
UPDATE Indianapolis Motor Speedway President Doug Boles is "optimistic that this will be the one and only season" the Verizon IndyCar Series Grand Prix of Indianapolis is "without a title sponsor," according to Jim Ayello of the INDIANAPOLIS STAR.
For the first time since its '14 inception, Saturday's race is "not called the Angie's List Grand Prix" after the home services website "opted not to renew its contract."
Boles emphasized that the departure of Angie's List was in "no way a reflection of the heath or viability" of the race that kicks off Indianapolis 500 month. Boles has already "hinted that they might have found that 'right partner.'"
Boles said he and IndyCar have had some "great conversations" recently. But he "did not reveal the name of a potential suitor." INDIANAPOLIS STAR
Whether this ties into the rumor below we are not certain. Does not sound like it since Conrad Brunner said something huge is brewing and it involves F1.
05/09/17 Indianapolis local sports reporter Conrad Brunner was being interviewed by 1070AM radio yesterday and was asked if he was excited for the Grand Prix since he is such a big F1 fan. He replied by saying he is- "Even more excited for the Grand Prix than usual because of 'something huge brewing' for the GP that is F1 related.
One rumor floating around is that the Indy GP weekend will play host to multiple race series including IndyCar and a return to the Speedway of F1. Pure speculation but we know F1 wants a 2nd race in the USA. Might we see the IndyCar race on Saturday and F1 on Sunday?
