Video: Esteban Gutierrez to make a home in IndyCar (2nd Update)

UPDATE This rumor is updated to 'fact' as Dale Coyne plans to run Gutierrez until he Sebastien Bourdais returns. On our Hotnews page you can read about the Mexican’s withdrawal from racing for Techeetah’s Formula E team so there is now nothing preventing him from becoming Bourdais’ full-time stand-in. The only fly in the ointment is the next race – Texas – a high-speed oval. If IndyCar is unable to fit in a test day at Texas Motor Speedway to provide Gutierrez his first oval test, Oriol Servia may get the nod from Coyne for that one race.

06/03/17 Esteban Gutierrez spoke with the media after finishing his first Detroit Grand Prix practice session on Friday morning. Gutierrez confirmed that he is interested in continuing in IndyCar for the remainder of 2017.

"So far I'm enjoying it a lot," he said. “Hopefully I can do the rest of the season. This is what I want. So yeah, hopefully we can get things organized.

"We just arrived here two days ago. But yes, I mean, it seems that it's very nice to come back to America from 2007 when I was racing Formula BMW here. I know very well tracks like Road America, which is one of my favorite tracks in the world, and I'm very keen to hopefully have the chance to race there again with an IndyCar in the following races."
