Herta outduels O’Ward to win Freedom 100
Colton Herta |
Colton Herta drove the No. 98 Andretti Steinbrenner Racing Curb Mazda entry to victory in today's Freedom 100 edging teammate Patricio O'Ward by 0.02 seconds.
Dalton Kellett completed an Andretti Autosport sweep of the top-3 with Belardi Racing's Santi Urrutia and Ryan Norman rounding out the top-5.
After winning both races earlier in the month on the IMS road course, Herta's impressive month of May continued as he captured today's win on the oval. It was the 6th victory for Andretti Autosport of the Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires season.
Building on last season’s achievements, today’s victorious finish gives Andretti Autosport’s Indy Lights program its 41st win. Since 2005, Andretti Autosport has earned two series titles (‘08/Raphael Matos and ’09/J.R. Hildebrand) and one Freedom 100 win ('16/ Dean Stoneman).
Herta now sits atop the Lights standings, 4 points ahead of O'Ward.
