MotoGP News: Alex Marquez wins first MotoGP race at Jerez
Alex Marquez scored his breakthrough MotoGP victory at the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday after brother and previous point’s leader Marc Marquez crashed his factory Ducati on lap three of the race at Jerez.
Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo scored his first grand prix podium since the 2023 Indonesian Grand Prix. The Frenchman held of Francesco Bagnaia’s factory Ducati for second place.

Dominant on Saturday, Marc was slow off the line this time – so, instead of challenging pole man Fabio Quartararo for the lead like he had on Saturday, Marc Marquez had to lunge his brother into Turn 1 to even hang on to third.
They ran virtually side by side through the successive right-handers in the second part of the lap, at one point even making contact, before Marc dropped back towards Alex.
And as he looked to gather himself, he went down coming into the long Turn 8 left-hander on the third lap, rejoining the race all the way down in 22nd. He recovered to finish 12th turning the fastest laps of the race despite a significantly damaged bike.
Tech3’s Maverick Vinales, the KTM standout this weekend, briefly threatened to join the podium battle but never really did – meaning Bagnaia brought it home in third and now sits 20 points back from Alex Marquez and 19 points back from Marc Marquez.
Fabio Di Giannantonio stayed out of trouble to salvage a fifth-place finish from a difficult weekend on the VR46 Ducati.
Alex Marquez passed Francesco Bagnaia for 2nd and then took the lead from Quartararo on Lap 11 and from there gradually pulled away and was never headed, taking his first-ever MotoGP top-class victory.
