IndyCar: Sunday Morning Report from The 50th GP of Long Beach

Good race day morning for the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach.  Today’s weather will be in the mid-60s, around the scheduled start time of 1:45 pm PT.

This event draws over 195,000 attendees over the three days of racing.  On Saturday morning, the promoters announced that for the third consecutive year, reserved seats for Saturday, April 12 and Sunday, April 13 at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach are no longer available.

Kyle Kirkwood, driver of the No. 27 Pre-Fab Andretti Global Honda, won his third career pole yesterday and will lead the 27 IndyCars to the green flag today.  The American is hungry for a win today.   Look for him to fend off his teammate, Colton Herta, at the start and stay up front.

Various other events are planned for the fans this morning.  The Historic Motor Sports Association will have a second race of some vintage cars at 10:45 am.  There will be a 50th Anniversary Parade at 12:35 pm featuring a Formula 5000 car, an F1 car, and an IndyCar, showing the three different eras that raced in the Grand Prix over the last 50 years.

It will be an exciting day here in Long Beach.

Watch the NTT INDYCAR Series race on Fox at 1:30 PT.
