NASCAR News: Erik Jones Disqualified after Martinsville race
Inspection is complete following the Cook Out 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway and Erik Jones has been disqualified.
There were no issues for #11-Denny Hamlin. He is officially the winner.
#43-Erik Jones has been disqualified following post-race inspection for failing to meet the minimum weight requirement.
The minimum weight is based on a driver’s weight and the tolerance is roughly 17 pounds. The No. 43 of Jones was a randomly chosen car, which was also going to be sent back to NASCAR’s R&D Center alongside the Kaulig Racing No. 10 of Ty Dillon for a deeper inspection.
They will now forfeit all points earned from the finish, as well as any points, earned in stages.
Jones drops from 21st to 29th in the standings as a result of the DQ.
