MotoGP: Marc Marquez tops opening day of testing in Thailand

Factory Ducati rider Marc Marquez set the quickest time on the opening day of the Buriram MotoGP test, leading his brother Alex Marquez on a customer Ducati.

Barcelona and Sepang test leader Alex Marquez was fastest for most of the opening day at the scorching Buriram, Thailand test, only for brother Marc to beat him by 0.465s in the closing minutes of the day.

A final fast lap from customer Ducati rider Franco Morbidelli saw him move up to third overall, 0.499s behind Marc Marquez. That gave Ducati riders a 1-2-3 on the day.

New Aprilia rider Marco Bezzecchi was fourth place, 0.610s behind Marquez.

KTM’s Pedro Acosta rounded out the top-5, 0.720s behind Marquez on the hot sweltering and humid day on the Buriram International Circuit in Thailand.

Factory Honda rider Luca Marini was sixth ahead of teammate Johann Zarco in 7th on the customer LCR Honda.

Two-time MotoGP champion Bagnaia was eighth on the factory Ducati, 0.844s behind his teammate Marquez, while KTM’s Brad Binder was ninth.

Jack Miller rounded out the top-10 for Yamaha.
