UPDATE McLaren has confirmed Fernando Alonso will race the #66 entry in the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 this season.
02/26/19 Indianapolis 500 veteran Pippa Mann will drive for Clauson-Marshall Racing in this year’s running of IndyCar’s most famous race.
In Mann’s seven Indy 500 attempts, she has usually driven for Dale Coyne Racing on one occasion. She drove for Conquest Racing in her first Indy 500 start back in 2011. But the 35-year-old Briton is expected to take her ride-buyer money elsewhere this year.
Mann is expected to drive a Chevrolet-powered car for Clauson-Marshall Racing, with support from AJ Foyt Racing, in an 'attempt' to qualify for this year’s running of the 200-lap race around the four-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval in Speedway, Indiana.
The team announced on Twitter than an official announcement regarding their entry in this year’s Indy 500 is scheduled to come at 2:00 p.m. ET tomorrow.
On Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 2:00 pm, Clauson-Marshall Racing will hold a press conference at @IMS to share details of their Indianapolis 500 entry. This is an incredible opportunity that we want to share with you all. Stay tuned for more updates and information!
Alonso to drive #66
Rumor has it that Fernando Alonso will drive the #66 car in this year's Indy 500 as a tribute to 1972 Indy 500 winner Mark Donohue, who was the first driver to win the race while driving a McLaren chassis.
