Stellantis axes Ram Electric 1500REV in favor of hybrid

Auto News: Stellantis axes Ram Electric 1500REV in favor of hybrid

The planned long-range 500-mile version of the Ram REV (pictured) has been canceled by Stellantis. Jalponik sources shared an email Ram sent out to its suppliers, notifying them of the EV’s cancellation.

Dear Supplier Partners, As Stellantis continues to focus on the launch of the Ram 1500 Ramcharger and Ram 1500 REV (BEV L), the company has made the decision to CANCEL the Light Duty Ram 1500 DT BEV XL (long range variant).

Consequently, we ask you to immediately cease all activities related to this project and suspend all incremental spending. Please note that the cancellation only applies to UNIQUE BEV XL parts. Work on any parts shared with the BEV L should NOT be cancelled/stopped.

Instead of the all-electric EV, the hybrid Ramcharger will go on sale later this year with two electric motors, a 92-kWh battery pack and a V6 engine that works as a generator to give a combined range of nearly 700 miles. Hence the 500-mile all-electric truck made no sense whatsoever.

It gets worse for the Woke vehicles. Dodge and its dealers are sitting on inventories of Charger EVs they have to discount to sell to Jeep rushing production of its small Recon EV as the Wagoneer S arrives at dealers across the country to Chrysler canceling its planned electric crossover.
