NASCAR News: McDonald’s ends NASCAR Chicago race deal
NASCAR’s Chicago street race is losing one of its founding sponsors, as McDonald’s ends its support of the event after two years, reports SBJ’s Adam Stern.
McDonald’s is ending its founding sponsorship of the NASCAR Chicago street race after two years of a three-year deal, dropping a local connection the July 5-6 event had with one of the biggest corporations in the city, reports SBJ’s Adam Stern.
In March 2023, the Chicago-based QSR giant became the first company to announce it would sponsor the inaugural race that summer. But now, McDonald’s won’t be a part of this year’s edition as an event sponsor, according to sources, and its logo no longer appears on NASCAR Chicago’s partner page portion of its website. NASCAR sought around $2 million annually over three years for founding partner positions, including ad time with NBC Sports, SBJ previously reported, but the terms it eventually struck with McDonald’s were unclear.
The remaining founding partners of the street race are ABB, BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois and Xfinity, all of whom are still listed on the circuit’s website alongside 17 other official partners.
