NASCAR News: Van Gisbergen & Chastain to drive for Dale Jr. team
Shane van Gisbergen may be stepping up to the NASCAR Cup Series this year, but that does not mean he will disappear from the Xfinity Series.
Van Gisbergen and his Trackhouse Racing teammate Ross Chastain will be participating in a combined total of nine races for JR Motorsports’ Xfinity team alongside Connor Zilisch.
In conjunction with Trackhouse Racing, JR Motorsports will campaign the No. 9 Chevrolet in nine 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series races with Trackhouse Racing drivers Ross Chastain and Shane van Gisbergen.
Connor Zilisch, a Trackhouse development driver, will contest the 33-race NXS season in JR Motorsports’ No. 88 Chevrolet Camaro, in addition to JRM drivers Justin Allgaier, the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series champion, Sammy Smith and Carson Kvapil.
Chastain will compete in five races, the first of which is in March at Circuit of the Americas. His other races are at Darlington Raceway in April, May 31 at Nashville Superspeedway, July 19 at Dover Motor Speedway and Aug. 2 at Iowa Speedway.
Van Gisbergen’s four races are set for June 14 at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City, July 5 at the Chicago Street Race, July 12 at Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway and Aug. 9 at Watkins Glen (N.Y) International.
Further details on the No. 9 team’s makeup will be announced at a later date.
