Formula 1 News: The Secrets of Mercedes F1 Fuel

Introducing a new six-part Mercedes F1 education series, where they lift the lid on the five ‪PETRONAS Motorsports‬ functional fluids that power their F1 cars.

In the first episode, they look at how the Power Unit and PETRONAS Primax fuel work in harmony to deliver maximum performance out on track.

A fully integrated part of the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team set up, PETRONAS has supplied three generations of its Primax Fuel to power the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team. Throughout this process, the team has worked closely with PETRONAS as a collaborator to consult on the performance of PETRONAS products in the car.

This technology was developed in close collaboration with Mercedes-AMG and High Performance Powertrains (HPP), culminating in the current era of fuel which comprises 10% non-fossil origin components.

The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team itself claimed a record-setting eight consecutive Constructors’ Championships between 2013 and 2020.
