WEC News: TF Sport Corvette team announces 2025 drivers
TF Sport will be fielding two Corvette Z06 GT3.Rs in the LMGT3 class for the second year in a row. After a first season that ended positively with a double podium in the 8 Hours of Bahrain, the team is ready to aim for victory in the 2025 season.
The two Corvette Z06 GT3.Rs will be in the hands of two strong line-ups: the #81 will be driven by the returning line up of Tom Van Rompuy, Rui Andrade and Charlie Eastwood while behind the wheel of the #33 will be Ben Keating, Jonny Edgar and Daniel Juncadella.
The TF Sport line-up of the Corvette Z06 GT3.R #81, the same as in 2024, is familiar to all FIA WEC fans. Eastwood, who was born in Belfast in 1995 and is a Corvette factory driver, is well known within the ranks of TF Sport: with the team, the Northern Irishman won the 2020 Le Mans 24 Hours in the LMGTE AM class and was LMP2 Pro/Am class champion in the 2022 European Le Mans Series, playing an important role in building the team’s history. He also raced for the team in the LMGTE AM class in the FIA WEC 2023 and lined up in the Oreca 07 Gibson #90 in the Asian Le Mans Series 2023/2024.
Tom Van Rompuy, born in 1988 in Antwerpen, has a great experience in endurance racing: the 36-year-old Belgian raced in the Ligier European Series and in the LMP3 class of the European Le Mans Series in 2022, before switching to the LMP2 Pro/Am class during the 2023 ELMS season and for the 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Rui Andrade, 2023 champion of the LMP2 class in the FIA WEC, will add his speed and experience to the team. The Angolan, born in Luanda in 1999, after an early part of his career spent in Formula races moved on to endurance series entering the Asian Le Mans Series in 2021 before going on to European Le Mans Series, IMSA and eventually FIA WEC, always driving LMP2 cars.
The line-up of the Corvette Z06 GT3.R #33, on the other hand, is all-new for the 2025 season, but brings together faces well known to TF Sport. Jonny Edgar, born in 2004 in Whitehaven, brought joy to the team by becoming 2024 European Le Mans Series champion in the LMP2 class with AO by TF. Throughout his career has shown great speed in Formula cars and was a member of the Red Bull Junior Team for five years before focusing entirely and successfully on endurance racing.
Ben Keating, one of the drivers of the “Trackhouse by TF Sport” Corvette Z06 GT3.R that will race the 2025 Rolex 24 at Daytona, will return with the team after a two-season absence. Ben won both the World Endurance Championship and 24 Hours of Le Mans with the team in 2022. Joining Edgar and Ben Keating will be Dani Juncadella, who was born in Barcelona in 1991 and is a Corvette factory driver. In 2011 he won the Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix, in 2012 he won the title in both the Formula 3 Euro Series and the FIA European Formula 3 and, after being a test driver for several F1 teams, he moved to DTM and GT racing always delivering great and solid performances.
The two line-ups and the mighty Corvette Z06 GT3.Rs are expected on track in a few weeks for the first test sessions ahead of the upcoming season. The FIA World Endurance Championship 2025 will officially start in Qatar on 21-22 February with the Prologue, and on 28 February the championship will begin with the first race of the season: the Qatar 1812 Km.
CHARLIE EASTWOOD, #81 TF SPORT GOLD DRIVER:
“I am happy to be back with the same #81 crew for 2025. We finished 2024 on a high note, with great results and pace in the last few rounds, so hopefully we can carry this momentum into 2025 as well and get off to a great start from round one in Qatar”.
TOM VAN ROMPUY, #81 TF SPORT BRONZE DRIVER:
“I feel very excited to start another season in the FIA World Endurance Championship with TF Sport and my former teammates Charlie and Rui. We finished last season on a high, so our expectations for 2025 are even higher. I know we have a strong and consistent package to fight for good results. I feel very proud to drive the for another year alongside Charlie and Rui. As a team we made really good progress last season, so my desire to win is at an all-time high. I look forward to seeing all the fans again, thank you all for your great support!”.
RUI ANDRADE, #81 TF SPORT SILVER DRIVER:
“I am very happy to join TF Sport for another year and to be fighting again for the World Championship and the win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. We have learnt a lot and made great steps forward and I am excited to keep this momentum going in 2025 to fight for our deserved positions”.
JONNY EDGAR, #33 TF SPORT SILVER DRIVER:
“I am very grateful for the opportunity to race in the FIA World Endurance Championship with TF Sport in the Corvette Z06 GT3.R, with Ben and Dani as teammates. It is great to be racing with TF Sport again after the success we had together in the ELMS in 2024. Racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship and in the 24 Hours of Le Mans is an amazing opportunity for me and I am looking forward to my first GT3 racing season. My teammates are great too, with Ben having already won the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the FIA World Endurance Championship with Corvette and Dani having had a lot of success in GT3 racing; I’m sure I can learn a lot from both of them. I can’t wait to start the season in Qatar!”.
BEN KEATING, #33 TF SPORT BRONZE DRIVER:
“I am so excited to be back in the FIA World Endurance Championship family. I have missed all the people and places I have come to love. I am also thrilled to be back with TF Sport many of the same reasons. This will be a new car for me, but I am excited to race in the same Corvette that I sell at Keating Chevrolet. I am grateful to be able to come back”.
DANI JUNCADELLA, #33 TF SPORT PLATINUM DRIVER:
“Obviously we have an exciting project ahead of us. I am really happy to join the team again, I really appreciated the way they work. I think it is one of the best teams I have ever raced with in customer racing. Now I’m joined by two incredible and talented teammates: Jonny was outstanding when we tested him in December, and Ben I don’t even need to introduce him. He is one of the best, if not the best, bronze driver around. So I think the combination of the three of us will be very successful in terms of performance and results. Time will tell, because everything will depend on many other aspects, but I think we have a good chance of achieving great results this year”.
TOM FERRIER, TF SPORT OWNER:
“2024 was a building year for us and Corvette Racing that ended with some really positive results for all involved. I think that shows how much hard work and determination was put in behind the scenes. For 2025 we have two really great line-ups and I am hoping we can be racing at the front right from the start of the year and back where ourselves and Corvette Racing belong. I am very thankful for the support of GM, Corvette Racing and the drivers for making this program happen. We cannot wait to get going in Qatar”.
