Supercars News: Feeney wins in Adelaide, Brown seals title
With a second place finish in today’s Supercars race on the streets of the Adelaide Parklands Circuit, Toowoomba’s Will Brown (No. 87 Red Bull Ampol Chevrolet Camaro) has officially clinched his maiden Supercars title.
Teammate Broc Feeney (No. 88 Red Bull Ampol Chevrolet Camaro), who was the only driver able to mathematically unseat Brown, dominated today’s race at the VAILO Adelaide 500 for his second win at the famous street circuit.
However, it’s been the consistency of Brown that sees the 26-year-old become the first Queensland-born Supercars champion since Dick Johnson in 1989.
Brown’s second-place finish today was his 18th in 23 races thus far in 2024, and makes him the first driver since 1984, also Dick Johnson, to score a podium finish at every round on the Supercars/ATCC calendar.
Feeney’s sixth win of 2024 was followed home by Brown, Tickford Racing’s Cam Waters (No. 6 Monster Energy Ford Mustang) who started on pole, Grove Racing’s Matt Payne, and Waters’ teammate Thomas Randle.
There is one day left of action in the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship season and plenty to play for.
Supercars is back on track with Boost Mobile Qualifying at 10:20 a.m. ACDT, the Boost Mobile Top Ten Shootout at 12:35 p.m., and Race 24, the final race of the 2024 season, beginning at 3:15 p.m., with another 78-lap, 250-kilometer race scheduled.
