IndyCar: Sunday Morning Report from the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix

It is a beautiful sunny morning here at the Nashville Superspeedway for the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix.

What a change from the cloudy skies and occasional showers we experienced yesterday. The temperatures will be in the mid-80s today for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES season finale, which will be broadcast on NBC at 2:00 p.m. CT.

The IndyCar drivers are having an autograph session this morning in the Fan Zone located behind the large grandstand.

We have two more grid penalties for today’s race.  Entry No. 20 for Ed Carpenter Racing and No. 14 for AJ Foyt Enterprises will have a nine-position penalty for an unapproved engine change.

After qualifying yesterday, Christian Rasmussen, driver of the No. 20 entry, had an engine fire right after pulling into the pit lane when his attempt was completed.

Juncos Hollinger Racing has collaborated with Seamless Digital to bring the first-ever on-car digital display to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES.  Four display screens are mounted on the sides inside the areoscreen, two on each side.  Each display is customizable as dynamic messaging for partner and brand content.

Autoracing1 spoke with a team member who was happy to explain the display to us. Robert said that the displays do not distract the driver because they are up high and on the side of the driver. IndyCar officials approved using the new tool in the car for this race.  The screens add minimal weight to the car.

You will be able to view the screens of the on-board camera that is on the No. 77 entry.

Two of the screens will display team sponsors, and the other two screens will display social media posts in which the JHR teams asked fans to submit one word that describes the 2024 IndyCar season.
