IndyCar News: Paul Tracy hit by car and injured while riding bike
Paul Tracy, a longtime IndyCar driver, is recovering after being hit by a car while riding his bike on Friday.
Paul Tracy, a former NBC Sports IndyCar announcer after he retired from driving full-time, was hit by a car while out riding his bike on Friday. He was hit by a Mazda SUV and suffered some pretty serious injuries.
Tracy, who worked at NBC Sports from 2014 to 2021, had to be taken to a local trauma center.
Getting transferred to trauma center,” Tracy wrote. “Looks like 3 broken vertebrae lower back. This is going to f*** up my fitness.”

Tracy had recently left NBC but got into a different world of broadcasting. He had been working with the Camping World SRX Series founded by Tony Stewart. Tracy had also done some work for the GT World Challenge.
He’s in a good headspace following the injury, at least.
“There are two options in life,” said Tracy. “Lay around and do nothing, or keep it f****** moving. Let’s go! Nobody is going to hold me back.”
He competed in the Superstar Racing Experience (SRX) with a best finish of third coming at Connecticut’s Stafford Motor Speedway in 2022.
