IndyCar: Sunday Report from the Hy-Vee Milwaukee Mile 250s Race 2
Good afternoon from the historic Milwaukee Mile at the Wisconsin State Fair Grounds. The weather will be similar to yesterday’s, with sunshine and temperatures in the low 70s.
Yesterday’s race was better than most drivers thought it would be. Luckily, there were only 38 yellow laps in the first 250-lap race. As the sun set, after Lap 200, the drivers experienced darkness on the back stretch.
Will Power explained the situation. “Actually I couldn’t see. A car would disappear, come out, and there he is.”
“Yeah, the race was pretty good. There was a lot of passing, back and forth. I thought the crowd was really good. Sounded awesome once you got out of the car, the cheer of the crowd.”
“I think it was a very successful return. A lot of fun in the race. Yeah, I don’t know what it looked like from the outside. Conor (Daly) passed 50 times. I don’t think anyone is going to get close to that. ”
Pato O’Ward also commented on the race atmosphere. “It was fantastic. You could just hear the cheers of everybody. Super happy on the podium. Everybody was just super into it, brought a lot of energy today. That was fantastic to see.”
“My first time here in Milwaukee, so I don’t know what to compare to. But this was fantastic. Really been amazing. It was a pretty good race. We could get through traffic and stuff like that, so that usually means it’s eventful pretty much everywhere but leaders.”
“It was definitely a success and I am excited for Sunday’s race.”
Race 2 for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES is scheduled for 1:30 pm CT.
Louis Foster Wins INDY NXT by Firestone Championship
Dominating the INDY NXT season with seven wins, six poles and 11 podiums, Andretti Global’s Louis Foster cinched the Championship in Milwaukee on Saturday.
“When I joined Andretti in late ’22 after winning Indy Pro, I knew that we’d be strong ever since we got out of the gates. Just struggled with consistency last year.”
“Had a good year this season. The team has been awesome. We’ve broken a few records along the way. I am over the moon.”
“I have been talking to IndyCar teams, obviously. Really, really hoping I’ll get an opportunity in the series. As it stands currently, we don’t have anything signed. I’m hoping that around Nashville, slightly after, we can find something.”
“I think I’ve done as much as I can this year to prove to the IndyCar teams that I’m worthy of a seat. I’m hoping we can get an opportunity.”
The INDY NXT by Firestone has one remaining race this season at Nashville Speedway.
