Formula 1 News: Hamilton tops final practice for 2024 Italian GP
After topping Practice 2 on Friday, Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton turned a lap of 1m20.117s to top final practice for the 2024 Italian GP at Monza. His time was well over a tenth quicker than last year’s pole.

George Russell made it a Mercedes 1-2, just 0.093s behind Hamilton.
Charles Leclerc gave the tifosi something to cheer about in third, 0.109s behind Hamilton in his #16 Ferrari.
Oscar Piastri was 4th quick in the #84 McLaren, 0.135s behind Hamilton while his teammate Lando Norris rounded out the top-5 0.145s behind the Mercedes.
An unhappy Max Verstappen was only 6th fastest, 0.251s behind Hamilton.
Mercedes look strong today, and when you add in Hamilton’s pace from FP2, things are looking much improved for the Silver Arrows from Zandvoort.
Ferrari might not have got their second soft tire laps in but they also look good over one lap.
Norris didn’t show his full hand, while Piastri looks quick but on the ragged edge.
Something went wrong with Haas late on as Kevin Magnussen was told to stop on the track immediately.
Haas now need to get his car back and ready for qualifying, so depending on what the issue is, this could be very costly for the American outfit.
