F1 Rumor: Money saved Perez’s Red Bull ride

A report from German publication F1-Insider in Germany has claimed that F1 owners Liberty Media intervened to persuade Red Bull to keep Sergio Perez.

His home race, the Mexican Grand Prix, is due to be held in October and without Sergio in the race, the race promoter will suffer financially. Ditto for the USGP at COTA and the Las Vegas GP.

Carlos Slim is also rumored to have given more money to the team to help compensate for the fact that the team will lose a lot of money when it loses the Constructors title because of Perez’s guaranteed poor performance.
