Formula 1 News: Norris tops Practice 2 for 2024 Hungarian GP
Lando Norris turned a qualifying sim lap of 1m17.788s in his #4 McLaren to top practice 2 for the 2024 Hungarian GP at the Hungaroring in Budapest on Friday afternoon.

McLaren is believed to have the fastest car in F1 and that appears to be the case again here in Hungary.
Norris’ fast lap was 0.243s faster than the Red Bull of Max Verstappen, who was also 2nd quick in Practice 1.
Fastest in Practice 1, Carlos Sainz Jr. was third fastest in the #55 Ferrari, 0.397s behind Norris. His Ferrari teammate, Charles Leclerc, ran out of talent in Turn 4 and crashed in Turn 4, thoroughly wadding up his #16 Ferrari and ending his session.

Sergio Perez rebounded to 4th in the 2nd Red Bull, 0.467s behind Norris
George Russell was again the faster of the two Mercedes drivers in 5th, 0.506s behind the McLaren.
What did we learn?
McLaren looking strong. Ferrari looking strong. But both teams fallible – Leclerc’s crash putting him on the back foot and potentially stripping him of a vital upgrade, Piastri struggling with reliability woes and self-inflicted floor damage.
Red Bull lurking in the hands of Max Verstappen and Helmut Marko said the McLaren engine was turned up but not theirs. Mercedes in the mix, and ready to pounce. Could you ask for anymore after a Friday in Budapest?!
Eight teams in the top 10, and plenty to play for heading into the weekend.
