IndyCar: Friday Report from the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy

Good afternoon from Exhibition Place in Toronto, Ontario, and race 12 for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and the final street course for the 2024 season.   It will be perfect racing weather today, with temperatures predicted to be in the low 70s.

This weekend’s race will be the 38th INDYCAR SERIES race held on the streets of Exhibition Place.  The 85-lap race around the 11-turn, 1.786-mile temporary circuit will feature 27 IndyCar drivers, six of them are rookies.

Scott Dixon, the driver of the No. 9 PNC Bank Ganassi Racing, is the winningest active driver this weekend, with four victories, two in 2013, 2018, and the 2022 race.  Michael Andretti won this race seven times in his career.

Rahal Lettermen Lanigan’s Christian Lundgaard won this race last year and could finally shave off that silly mustache he was wearing until he won his first race.

This will be the first time for the hybrid system on a street course.  All the drivers we spoke with think it will be similar usage to Mid-Ohio.

Will Power, a three time winner here, commented on the hybrid.

“If you are not using it, you will be losing three tenths, so you certainly got to use it!”

IndyCar practice 1 is scheduled for 3:00 – 4:15 pm with 45 minutes for all cars, followed by two groups for 10 minutes each.
