IndyCar: Getting to Know Christian Brooks INDY NXT driver

Christian Brooks, the talented 23-year-old American, is set to take the wheel of the No 39 HMD Motorsports entry for the remainder of the INDY NXT by Firestone season, stepping in for Nolan Seigel, who recently signed with Arrow McLaren. In addition to this, Brooks will continue to showcase his skills in the USF Pro 2000 Championship.

There are only two schedule conflicts this season: Mid-Ohio and Portland. Brooks is excited to be able to run double time on the track at those two venues.

The American has been a dedicated racer since his early years, embarking on his journey in karting at the tender age of five. His unwavering commitment to the sport has led him to compete in the Global Rally Cross Championship, Americas Rallycross Championship, Formula 4 US Championship, USF Pro 2000 Championship, and Indy Pro 2000.

Christian Brooks has a unique achievement. He is the sole driver to have emerged victorious four times on the challenging streets of St Petersburg, across all racing categories, including IndyCar.

With limited funds to provide him a racing opportunity, Brooks coaches an up-and-coming driver in karting for income.

“I have great support from the Pedersen family.  They changed my life completely.  I am super thankful to them for this opportunity.  I am going to give it everything I have because it is not easy to make it to IndyCar, and I think this is where you prove yourself.”

“I coach their son, Dean Pedersen.  He has only been racing for about a year and is an unbelievable driver.  Honestly, he is going to be the next one.”

“The family has supported me.  And they are the only reason I am here.”

“I don’t get to be at home in California much because of Dean’s karting schedule and coaching and the Pro schedule.”

“Coaching is my job. I have always loved to give back to the younger kids.  I think a lot of them look up to me.  It is really cool to share my knowledge with them. ”

“I have been coaching for my karting team since I have been 14 years old.  I was able to get back knowledge at a young age.”

The INDY NXT by Firestone Race 1 was yesterday and Brooks started ninth and finished eight.

Race 2 is today at 1:00 pm.
