F1 News: Brad Pitt’s Formula 1 movie gets June ’25 Release Date
Brad Pitt‘s upcoming feature about Formula 1 racing has gotten a release date from Apple Original Films. The untitled movie will begin in cinemas on June 27, 2025.
Apple is partnering with Warner Bros. Pictures on the theatrical rollout. The tech giant has been releasing more of its movies in theaters before debuting them on its streaming service Apple TV+ along with other home entertainment platforms.
The Formula 1 movie will be shown in IMAX theaters, which could become the de facto format for consumers interested in a movie that will be marketed heavily on its racing sequences.
The Formula 1 film will be directed by Joseph Kosinski, who previously oversaw “Top Gun: Maverick.” Along with Pitt, it co-stars Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia and Samson Kayo.
Kosinski will produce the feature alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman of Jerry Bruckheimer Films; and Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner for Plan B Entertainment, and Lewis Hamilton under his Dawn Apollo Films banner. The film is made in collaboration with Formula 1. Ehren Kruger, who worked with Kosinski on “Top Gun: Maverick,” wrote the screenplay.
Described as “a landmark for the sport and cinema”, it has been filmed in real-time during Grands Prix around the world and involving the F1 community, including all 10 teams, the drivers, the FIA and race promoters.
Production of the movie, which began in 2023, will continue at this summer’s British Grand Prix and at several other races, before concluding at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in December.
