IndyCar News: Herta questions why Newgarden was not penalized
Andretti Autosport IndyCar driver Colton Herta was pissed off that Josef Newgarden was not penalized for spinning him out on the opening lap of the Xpel GP of Road America last Sunday.

Championship leader and Indy 500 winner Josef Newgarden ran into the back of Herta’s car on the first lap of the race.

“It wasn’t even close,” Herta said of the incident. “You see me slow down. He doesn’t even attempt to slow down, just dumps me. How that isn’t a penalty is beyond me.”
“I think I’ll have to bring a gun and shoot somebody in the head,” Herta told Frontstretch after the race. “And that’s the only way I can get a penalty [called] in this series. So like, it’s ridiculous. It’s insane to me.”
Perhaps someone needs to remind Mr. Herta that the Race Officials paychecks are signed by Roger Penske and Newgarden drives for Penske.
It’s just another in a long string of no-calls against a Team Penske driver.
When you own the IndyCar Series, the biggest race (Indy 500), the Indy Speedway and the company that designs and builds half the engines on the grid, the conflicts of interest are blatant, but brushed under the rug because without Roger Penske, IndyCar would die a quick and painful death.
