F1 News: No Pirelli surprises for Spain, Austria and Great Britain
Today, Pirelli has informed the ten teams taking part in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship of its dry tire compound choices for the Spanish, Austrian and British Grands Prix, which take place over three consecutive weekends from 21 June to 7 July.
Pirelli’s choices are identical to last year’s: the three hardest compounds in the range (C1, C2 and C3) have been chosen for Barcelona and Silverstone, while the softest (C3, C4 and C5) will be used at the Red Bull Ring.
In fact, these were the only logical choices, given that the Spanish and English tracks are among the toughest in terms of stresses exerted on the tires, because of the many high-speed corners, while the Austrian track, which has very few (10) corners and one of the shortest lap times on the calendar, has quite similar characteristics to Montreal, where the C3, C4 and C5 are the chosen compounds.
