IndyCar: McLaughlin leads Penske 1-2 in Practice for Indy 500

Team Penske and Chevy brought the HP again to this year’s Indy 500, and HP rules at Indy. Scott McLaughlin turned a lap of 229.493mph to top a rain shortened practice Wednesday for the Indy 500.

McLaughlin’s teammate Will Power was 2nd quick at 228.767mph to give Team Penske Chevy cars a 1-2.

Early rain meant no cars got to run until mid-afternoon – a 4 hour session from 3:00pm to 7:00pm.

The fastest Honda was Colton Herta in the #26 Andretti Autosport entry at 227.858mph

Josef Newgarden made it a three Penske Chevy’s in the top-5 at 227.675mph.

Alexander Rossi made it 4 out of 5 Chevy powered cars in the top-5 with a speed of 227.484mph.
