Formula 1 News: Driver Penalty Points ahead of Chinese GP
Ahead of this weekend’s Chinese GP in Shanghai, here is how many penalty points each F1 driver has. Sergio Perez leads all drivers with 8.

Drivers can accrue penalty points for indiscretions over a given race weekend, which are kept on their Super License for a 12-month period.
If a driver reaches 12 penalty points within the 12-month period, they will receive an automatic one-race ban.
These points remain on a driver’s license for 12 months, and if a driver accumulates 12, then they will be banned from the next event.
The penalty points are given depending on the severity of the incident in F1. These include, but are not limited to:
- Causing a collision
- Ignoring flags
- Holding up faster cars
- Ignoring pitlane speed limits
