Actor/Comedian Gabriel Iglesias Named Grand Marshal for LB race

The Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach is about to get “fluffy!” That’s because actor and comedian Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias is set to serve as Grand Marshal of the featured NTT INDYCAR SERIES race on Sunday, April 21.

As Grand Marshal, Iglesias will get the race underway when he says the most famous words in racing, “Drivers, start your engines!” just prior to the race’s scheduled 12:45 p.m. PT start time.

One of America’s most successful stand-up comedians performing to sold-out concerts around the world, Iglesias recently became one of the highest-grossing touring comedians and is one of the most watched comedians on YouTube with more than one billion views and more than 25 million fans on social media.

Iglesias has been included in The Hollywood Reporter’s “Top 40 Comedy Players” issue alongside comedy giants Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock and Lorne Michaels. He was also recently honored with the cover of Variety’s comedy issue. The comedian has had the distinct honor of being one of the few to headline and sell-out Madison Square Garden in New York, Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and The Sydney Opera House in Australia. In 2022, he became the first comedian to perform at and sell out Dodger Stadium.

His feature film credits include co-starring roles in Magic Mike, Magic Mike XXL and A Haunted House 2. Gabriel’s voice has been heard in many animated films including the recent Space Jam: A New Legacy as “Speedy Gonzales.” Iglesias is one of a handful of comedians with a theatrically released stand-up concert comedy film, The Fluffy Movie.

Iglesias can currently be seen co-staring Tim Allen in the second season of Disney+’s The Santa Clauses and the NBC sitcom, Lopez vs. Lopez with George Lopez.

The youngest of six children, Gabriel Iglesias was raised by a single mother in Long Beach. It was during his childhood that he developed a strong sense of humor to deal with the obstacles he faced. In 1997, he set out to hone his comedic skills, and performed stand-up anywhere he could find an audience, including biker bars and hole-in-the-wall joints. Gabriel’s stand-up comedy is a mixture of storytelling, parodies, characters and sound effects that bring his personal experiences to life. His unique and animated comedy style has made him popular among fans of all ages.

The Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach will be headlined by the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, as well as the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. In addition, the weekend will include the Super Drift Challenge under the lights on Friday and Saturday nights, plus doubleheader action from Robby Gordon’s SPEED/UTV Stadium Super Trucks and the new-for-2024 GT America Powered by AWS and Historic Indy Car Challenge.

Sunday ticket prices start at $87 for a General Admission ticket which does not include grandstand seating and prices go up to $185 for a three-day ticket that includes Sat./Sun. reserved seating in grandstand upper levels.  Pre-paid parking packages are also available, along with handicapped seating, NTT INDYCAR SERIES Paddock passes, Super Photo tickets and a wide variety of hospitality packages. Continuing a longstanding policy at the Grand Prix. children 12 years and under will be admitted free with a ticketed adult.
