IndyCar: Friday Report from Thermal Club Testing
Today will be a good day for testing at the Thermal Club near Palm Springs, California. With two testing sessions planned for the day, all NTT INDYCAR SERIES drivers will have five hours to work on their road course setup on the 3.067-mile, 17-turn circuit.
Temperatures are predicted to be in the high 60s to 75 degrees for the T1 session. The T2 session in the afternoon should be much warmer, with temperatures in the mid-80s.
Firestone is allowing each entry nine sets of primary tires, seven sets for use in the open test sessions. The tire is the same construction and compound as the tire supplied for the 2023 Thermal open test and the 2023 Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park.
Pictured above are the suites that were borrowed from the Long Beach Grand Prix. You had to have bought a suite pass to get into them. They are located across the track from the pits.
All other VIP ticket holders have two grandstands that they are allowed to be in this weekend. One grandstand is just to the left of the suites and the other is in turn 7.
The traffic was minimal getting inside the complex today. We will see how many VIPs show up for the testing sessions today.
IndyCars first two hour practice session will start at 9 am PDT.
