IMSA News: Cadillac to split from Ganassi team after 2024
Chip Ganassi Racing and Cadillac are set to part ways following the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship seasons, it has been revealed.
Whether this has anything to do with a tie-up between Andretti and Cadillac in F1, and perhaps other joint ventures, is still unclear. If Cadillac plans to expand their association with Andretti, they may be looking to downsize elsewhere.
The partnership, which began in the DPi ranks of the WeatherTech Championship in 2021, extended into the LMDh era last year with a factory Cadillac V-Series.R run in both the WEC and WeatherTech Championship.
Cadillac provided the following statement to Sportscar365 from Jim Campbell, GM’s U.S. Vice President of performance and motorsports:
“Our GM divisions have had successful partnerships with Chip Ganassi Racing across multiple series – NASCAR, IndyCar, Extreme E, IMSA and FIA WEC – over the years. Together we have won numerous races and have had great success,” he said.
“We remain committed to winning races and championships together in IMSA and FIA WEC this year.
“Our sports car plans for 2025 will be announced at a later date.”

HRC USA president David Salters, who is responsible for the ARX-06 program, told Autosport at the season-opening IndyCar round at St. Petersburg last weekend that the reduction of 17kg since the Daytona 24 Hours should give it a better fighting chance on raw pace at Sebring this weekend.
“We have a very heavy car,” Salters told Autosport at Daytona, who was at pains to point out he wasn’t complaining about the BoP. “I took [the weight penalty] as a compliment! We’ve done such a good job, so it’s a great compliment to our boys and girls.
“Heavy cars are not the kindest things on their tyres. Physics is physics, and weight affects all aspects of the car: tyres, braking, turning and accelerating.”
