Formula 1 News: Team launches investigation into Christian Horner (Update)
The matter with Christian Horner has been going on behind closed doors for a while, as per @ErikvHaren
Red Bull itself confirmed it to him, and are also the ones who started the investigation, not Red Bull Racing.
Erik says from what he’s heard the accusations are very serious and there allegedly is also proof of said incident. This is why Red Bull stepped in to start up an official investigation.
According to Motorsport – Total, Christian Horner is said to have been friendly advised to voluntarily resign as team boss and vacate his post
It is unclear what exactly is behind the allegations against Horner. In various media reports, including in the Dutch De Telegraaf and F1-Insider.com , there is talk of “cross-border behavior” towards an employee of the Austrian-British racing team .
There is now said to be a dossier with incriminating material at Red Bull in Fuschl that summarizes the allegations. These are now being investigated internally at Red Bull, and further action and possible consequences will be discussed at the highest management level. Horner is presumed innocent.
On Monday, a long-planned meeting of the Formula 1 Commission took place in the FOM offices in London, at which Horner was present in his role as Red Bull team boss. According to De Telegraaf, all he can say on the subject is: “I categorically deny these allegations.”
In a short phone call with Motorsport-Total.com Dr. Helmut Marko just said: “I’m not saying anything about it.”
Andretti-Cadillac would be more than happy to hire Horner we suspect.
