Rolex 24 Hour 23: Blomqvist out front in #31 Cadillac

With one hour to go in the Rolex 24 at Daytona, Tom Blomqvist has the #31 Whelen Cadillac back out in front of the #7 Penske Porsche of Felipe Nasr.

With less than 78 minutes to go, two-time Rolex 24 champion Tom Blomqvist took the #31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac V-Series.R used the slipstream and the grunt of the Cadillac’s V8 engine to close in on the #7 Porsche Penske Motorsport 963 of Felipe Nasr and slingshot past him around the tri-oval to retake the lead.

With slow Aitkin out of the car now, Blomqvist is slowly opening a gap over Nasr, now at 2.4s but will Nasr have an answer.

Louis Deletraz has the #40 Acura up to third, 1m09s behind.

Mathieu Jaminet has moved the #6 Penske Porsche up to 4th place after Kevin Estre went off track on cold tires earlier.

Rounding out the top-5 is Gianmaria Bruni in the #5 Mustang Sampling Porsche.

Era Motorsport has driven a near-flawless race to this point and Christian Rasmussen has the #18 ORECA 07 out front, leading Colin Braun in the #04 CrowdStrike Racing by APR ORECA by around 13 seconds.

GTD PRO

The #62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 296 GT3, now driven by Daniel Serra, continues to lead GTD Pro, with a one-lap lead over the #77 AO Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R, now driven by Laurin Heinrich.

GTD

In GTD, the #57 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Daniel Morad now has nice advantage over a close battle for second, headed by the #21 AF Corse Ferrari of Miguel Molina.
