Formula 1 News: F1 Event Statistics with Madrid Update

CORRECTION: We assumed incorrectly that the Spanish GP in Madrid will be paying F1 a $40 million per year hosting fee. Turns out it is $65 million per year.

With the Spanish GP in Madrid added to the F1 calendar starting in 2026, the number of races per year grows to 25 unless Barcelona is unable to renew with Liberty Media after 2026.

We assume the hosting fee for Madrid will start at $40 million per year on the low end. Not as high as some of the flyaway races due to lower transportation costs. The Hungarian GPs new deal, is also $40M per year, on the high end for a European race.

$40M per year is much higher than the $25M Barcelona is currently paying. If Barcelona wants to get a renewal when their current contract ends, they are likely going to have to pay $40M per year to host an F1 race.

We have added Madrid at the bottom of our Event Statistics Table because it does not come online until 2026. If the schedule expands to 25 races, the total annual attendance for F1 events will exceed 6.5 million people.
