Formula 1 News: Alpine’s Brivio could return to MotoGP (Update)
This rumor is upgraded to ‘fact’ today with the following announcement:
Alpine Racing will mutually part ways with Director of Racing Expansion Projects Davide Brivio at the end of the year, leaving the Italian to pursue other career opportunities.
It marks the end of a three-year collaboration with Davide, who joined the team ahead of the 2021 FIA Formula 1 World Championship season as Racing Director. Since then, Davide took on a role working as Director of Racing Expansion Projects, which included the successful management of the Alpine Academy, the team’s young driver program.
Under Davide’s guidance and expertise in motorsport, the Academy has developed young drivers across various motorsport disciplines and has seen regular Formula 1 opportunities over the past couple of seasons, most recently with Jack Doohan’s Free Practice 1 appearance in Abu Dhabi. The team thanks Davide for his efforts during his time at Alpine and wishes him the best in his future career endeavors.
Julian Rouse will continue to oversee the Alpine Academy program, which will enter its ninth year in 2024 and currently features nine drivers of eight nationalities, spanning four different series from FIA Formula 2 through to European Karting, and continues to play a central role in the Alpine project.
Bruno Famin, VP Motorsports Alpine Racing: “Firstly, we would like to thank Davide for his hard work and commitment over the last three seasons. His experience in motorsports has been extremely valuable, especially in the development and progression of the Alpine Academy. Davide’s wish is to leave Alpine to pursue other opportunities and we have accepted his desire by mutually agreeing to part ways. We extend our best wishes to him in his next chapter of an already impressive career in motorsports.”
Davide Brivio: “It has been a proud chapter in my motorsport career to be involved in Formula 1 with Alpine. I would like to thank Alpine for the opportunity to experience Formula 1 which was my desire and also for the chance to pass on some of my experience in motorsport onto its young drivers in the Alpine Academy. I wish the team and the Academy the best in the future and I’m sure we will see many young drivers go on to achieve fantastic things in their careers. To play a small part in some of that success will certainly be something I will cherish. I am grateful to Alpine for accommodating my wish to pursue other opportunities which may (and I hope that they will) arise in the future.”

(GMM) A top Alpine Formula 1 official, Davide Brivio, looks set to return to his more familiar two-wheeled world – MotoGP
Brivio was headhunted by Alpine’s Formula 1 team in 2021, becoming racing director. But having thrived in MotoGP as team boss at Suzuki, the Italian struggled to adjust to F1 and is currently director of racing expansion projects at the Renault-owned carmaker.
France’s Auto Hebdo now reports that Brivio is being wooed back to MotoGP by Honda to replace struggling team boss Alberto Puig.
When asked about the rumor in Abu Dhabi, Alpine’s F1 boss Bruno Famin insisted: “You know the answer in this case – we do not comment on rumors.
“I cannot say anything about that.”
Honda’s Puig, meanwhile, told Speedweek that he has a valid contract for 2024.
Brivio, however, said when asked: “Would I consider a job offer? This question is difficult to answer because I would need to know who is asking and what a possible offer consists of.”
