Formula 1 News: Practice 2 delayed until 5:30am ET

After making repairs to the water valve and manhole covers, the FIA has announced that practice 2 for the Las Vegas GP will start at 2:30am PT.

However, to have the roads open for rush hour traffic after the delayed Practice 2 concludes, all fans and non-essential people have been asked to leave the circuit before the session begins.

The session has been extended from 60 minutes to 90 minutes.

Sainz hit with 10- Grid Penalty

Adding insult to injury, the FIA have hit Carlos Sainz Jr. with a grid penalty because his power unit was damaged and Ferrari had to replace Carlos Sainz’s chassis, ICE, Energy Store and Control Electronics due to the FP1 damage for which Sainz was at the limit allowed for the year.

The stewards have confirmed that Ferrari will not be granted dispensation for the use of an additional power unit element on Carlos Sainz’s car following that huge damage sustained in the drain incident during P1. The use of an additional energy store means Sainz has gone over his penalty-free limit for the season.
