Up-and-coming NASCAR driver Hailie Deegan appears to be in line for a surprising switch from Toyota to Ford next season, according to sources, despite the Japanese carmaker touting her as one of its rising stars. The 18-year-old has yet to announce her ’20 plans, but sources have linked her with a move next season to DGR-Crosley, a team that announced this week that it is switching from Toyota to Ford. She would likely be sponsored by Monster Energy and run a combination of ARCA and NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series races. Deegan is still at least a couple years away from competing in the Cup Series.

Fueling the Deegan link, Ford put out a media alert Thursday saying it would make a “major announcement" by unveiling a new development driver next Tuesday at Ford Performance HQ near Charlotte. There was no comment from Toyota, DGR-Crosley or Connexions Sports & Entertainment Founder & CEO Bob Walker, who represents Hailie and her father, former X Games star Brian Deegan. Adam Stern/SBD
