F1: Verstappen is a Phenom, Wache reveals his secret

The CEO of Liberty Media, Greg Maffei, says that Max Verstappen is a Phenom that is more talented and faster than any other driver.

“The midfield is quite interesting, and we can show statistically there’s more overtaking than has ever occurred”

“The reality is, we have a very attractive competitive product, other than the fact that Max is that fast.

“Short of breaking his leg, a la Tonya Harding [referencing the infamous events in ice skating in 1994] , I’m not sure what we can do about that!”

“He’s a phenom. He’s driving what seems to be the fastest car, and he’s driving it very well. If you look at the lines he’s taking, how aggressive those lines are, but how well he’s able to navigate them

“It is truly stunning. And you can see statistically why he is faster than anybody else.”

Why is the Red Bull/Verstappen combo so potent?

Red Bull Chief Designer Pierre Wache says it is easier to find performance in the front end of the car to make it faster overall.

“It is very difficult to find performance in the rear of the car. It is a bit easier to find performance in the front of the car.”

“He [Max Verstappen] , thus, opens the door for us to make the car faster because he has the capacity and also the preference to have a very sensitive front end.”
