F1: Norris nips Verstappen in Dutch GP Practice 2

McLaren F1 driver Lando Norris turned a lap of 1m11.330s to top the 2nd dry practice for the Dutch GP Friday afternoon.

Dutchman Max Verstappen was 2nd quick in his Red Bull Honda, just 0.023s behind the Brit. Although Norris was quickest, Verstappen’s long run pace was demoralizing to his competitors.

Alex Albon was a solid third quick for Williams, 0.269s behind as the team, now run by James Vowles continues to improve.

Lewis Hamilton was 4th for Mercedes, while Yuki Tsunda rounded out the top-5 for AlphaTauri.

The only incident occurred in the tight hairpin. First, rookie Oscar Piastri spun into the outside barrier. Then Daniel Riccardo came upon Piastri’s disabled McLaren and the Aussie choked and crashed his AlphaTauri as well.

Ricciardo headed off to the local hospital to be checked out, with his hand needing some attention after his crash. He’s been pictured with a sling in place for support.

Several drivers went into the gravel traps and back out.
