IndyCar: What would you do on your Birthday?

What would you do on your 43rd birthday?  Would you ride in a hot air balloon or go sky diving?  How about a big party with your family or a quiet dinner with your spouse?

Scott Dixon will be driving an IndyCar around Iowa Speedway for 235 laps today in the HyVee Homefront 250 presented by Instacart. And he would have it no other way.

The six-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion has not slowed down after driving for 22 years in the series.

The Kiwi’s first team was Pac West in 2001 and he won his first race of his career in his third start for the team at Nazareth, Pennsylvania, at age 20, making him the youngest winner of an IndyCar race.

In 2002, Dixon joined Chip Ganassi Racing and has been the longest-tenured driver for the team.

His six championships were earned in 2003, 2008, 2013, 2015, 2018 and 2020.

Dixon has won at least one race every season since 2005.  His teammate Alex Palou has won three races in a row this season and has run away in the points race.   The Spaniard now leads his teammate by 117 points!

AR1 asked Dixon what keeps him motivated when his teammate is so far ahead in the points.

“I guess this weekend could be a turning point.  Last weekend in Toronto was a good opportunity for me and we kinda screwed that up. ”

“You have to hand it to Alex and his team.  They are doing a hell of a job.  Whether it is on speed or just strategy or consistency,  they are doing a hell of a job.  And we have to do a better one.”

“This weekend can really change the championship due to the double header.”

Dixon is a very proud Father to his three children and a great husband.

We know a race win today would be a bonus present for his birthday.

Happy Birthday Scott.
