F1: Series looking to improve flow and interest of Sprint Race weekends
–by Mark Cipolloni–
The Formula 1 Series is in discussions on how to improve the flow and interest of the six Sprint Race weekends in 2024.
Many do not like that currently, Saturday is all about the Sprint Race and its qualifying, and nothing to do about the main Grand Prix itself.
There are two ideas floating around:
Option 1
Friday Schedule
Morning: Practice 1
Afternoon: Sprint Race Qualifying
Saturday Schedule
Morning: Sprint Race
Afternoon: Sunday Race Qualifying
Sunday Schedule
Afternoon: Grand Prix Race
Option 2
Friday Schedule
Morning: Practice 1
Afternoon: Sprint Race Qualifying
Saturday Schedule
Morning: Sunday Race Qualifying
Afternoon: Sprint Race
Sunday Schedule
Afternoon: Grand Prix Race
Grand Slam Prize
There is also talk of creating a Grand Slam Prize that would go to a driver that wins the pole for both the Sprint Race and the Grand Prix, and also wins both races, thereby sweeping the entire weekend.
