F1: Verstappen not bored, enjoys demoralizing his opposition (2nd Update)
Max Verstappen won the Hungarian GP by 33.731 seconds, the largest lead in almost two years..
Dr. Helmut Marko said afterward: “Max actually could have driven even faster, he wasn’t driving at the limit by a long shot.”
Verstappen needs 8 more podiums in 2023 to break the season record currently held by, none other than, Max Verstappen.
He holds the record for most wins in a season – 15 – set last year. He already and 9 wins in 11 races this year. If he wins 7 of the last 11 races, he will break the single season race win record again.
Sergio Perez recently opened up about how difficult it is to survive at Red Bull and race alongside Max Verstappen.
Speaking to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Sergio Perez stated that a driver must possess a rock-solid mental state to survive at Red Bull and stated that Max Verstappen would easily beat 90% of the current drivers on the grid. He said:
“90% of the drivers would sink next to Verstappen. If you are not mentally strong, you can’t be at Red Bull. You should not underestimate the level of pressure you are under here.”

In an interview with Sky Sports, Max Verstappen says he isn’t bored by his own dominance, and he seems to enjoy demoralizing the competition, yet he does not boast about it.
The Red Bull Racing driver has already won eight victories this season, but the Dutchman said he is “still motivated to win even more.”
He was asked whether he gets bored when he wins by over 20 seconds, and he said no, “my goal is to increase the gap to the competition even more.”
His only real competition so far this year has been his Red Bull teammate Sergio Pérez, who has won twice.
Most people think the Red Bull dominance is getting boring.
“It is what Formula 1 is,” Verstappen admitted.
“I mean, it’s happened before in Formula 1. You just occasionally have a season or two consecutive seasons where maybe a few teams compete for the title. That’s very, very rare in this sport,” because each team designs and builds their own cars.
The two-time world champion thinks that the regulations will cause more competition in the future.
“Of course we are trying to bring it closer together with the new regulations and I think that compared to about twenty years ago it is already much more exciting.”
“It’s also about not making mistakes. I’ll try not to make too many mistakes during a weekend. We’re really aware of that and that’s what we’re trying to avoid.”
