F1: Brad Pitt movie to continue shooting at Hungaroring (3rd Update)

(GMM) Filming of the new Formula 1 movie starring Brad Pitt is continuing this weekend in Hungary – despite the highly publicized Hollywood production strike.

“All filming is cancelled, for now,” a source for the film’s production team told NBC last week.

“Brad Pitt really had fun, but he’s definitely a very loyal member of the union,” the source added.

However, at the Hungaroring this weekend, filming of on-track scenes continued with the modified ‘Apx GP’ Formula 2 cars – and Pitt is expected to appear at the circuit near Budapest where a special garage has been set up as was the case at Silverstone.

“Fortunately we can continue,” Lewis Hamilton, an executive producer, is quoted by Kolner Express newspaper.

“Hopefully we can get some important parts of the film done here,” the Mercedes driver added in Hungary.

“I’ve seen a few scenes now and I’m even more excited than before about the outcome.”

NBC was wrong and should stick to covering IndyCar.

Production and filming of Apple’s Formula 1 movie will continue at this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix, despite the impact of a Hollywood actors’ strike.

How?

When you use film crews from Europe that are not part of the striking Hollywood Union, there is no issue.

While Pitt himself may be absent – pandering to the Hollywood crazies, filming for the Apple movie is still carrying on within the F1 paddock.

Ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix, the garage of the fictional Apex team that Pitt drives for in the movie has been set up in the pit lane.

Autosport reports that there are plans in the Hungaroring timetable for more high-speed action footage to be captured with the modified F2 cars that appeared for the first time at the British Grand Prix.

It is understood that there are plans for footage to be captured of Apex pit stops, parc ferme reaction and grid activity over the Hungary weekend.

Shooting for Brad Pitt’s new Formula 1 movie has begun in Silverstone in the UK, and will continue in Hungary at the Hungaroring.

Brad Pitt has recently started shooting his Formula 1 movie, Apex, in Silverstone. In the film, the actor plays racing driver Sonny Hayes, returning from retirement, who meets up-and-coming talent Joshie Pearce, played by Damson Idris, reports instylemen.hu.

The Oscar-winning American actor co-stars with Damson Idris as the Apex drivers.

In addition to the Silverstone and Hungaroring locations, scenes for the film will also be shot at Circuit Paul Ricard, the French Grand Prix venue that is no longer part of Formula 1.

In some scenes, Brad Pitt and Damson Idris sit in the car, but mostly professional drivers drive the cars. One is driven by 2012 Formula 2 champion Luciano Bacheta, and the other by former Super League driver Craig Dolby.
