Las Vegas: Sports or gambling hub of the US?

While the big Las Vegas GP Formula 1 race is coming to Las Vegas in November, there is another smaller event that fans should not forget about.

In October, NASCAR returns to Las Vegas for the second time in the 2023 season for the South Point 400 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Sin City already hosted the Pennzoil 400 in the third race of the campaign, where William Byron claimed the victory, which set him up for a run at the NASCAR Championship. Byron has maintained his form in the season and is one of a number of contenders that are vying for the title.

Contenders At South Point

It is incredibly close to the top of the NASCAR standings, with the experience of Martin Truex Jr leading the way. Truex won the title in 2017 and since has finished as runner-up on three occasions. He has performed well at South Point in the past, reeling off two-fourth place finishes and seventh last year to go with his victory in 2019.

Truex will be a formidable opponent to knock off course, particularly in Vegas. Last year’s NASCAR Cup Series winner Joey Logano won the event on his way to the title last term, which was crucial in securing his second championship.

Others including the rising star of Christopher Bell and Ross Chastain will be in contention too, offering intense drama on the Sin City track to send the race for the NASCAR Cup Series crown down to the final few races of the season. There will be over 40,000 spectators in attendance at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway continuing the trend of success since the race began in 2018.

Lure of Vegas

South Point 400 has enjoyed a strong following in Vegas and has been blessed by a sporting revolution in the city, which has seen an NFL and NHL team move into the region. There are even reports that there could be an NBA team based in Vegas in the near future. Sport is becoming just as synonymous with Vegas as gambling, allowing Sin City to become a place for sports fans to visit not just those who have an interest in casinos and gambling.

But, there remains an extraordinary feeling as an outsider visiting Vegas about entering the glitz and glamour of the strip, featuring the most luxurious casinos in the world. You can get a sample of the array of table-based games and slots by playing online.

These online games such as Vegas Cash Spins and Vegas Magic at Buzz Bingo really grab the feel and look of playing in the Venetian, Caesars Palace, and the Bellagio venues. It provides the same level of entertainment for those players that love slot games of different genres and to a degree the jackpots on offer too!

One lucky player was able to use their major win to spend on a once-of-a-lifetime holiday to Vegas. So, although the idea of Vegas slots has spread far and wide to locations thousands of miles away from the strip, the famous city still holds a place in the hearts and minds of travelers. It shows no time of slowing anytime soon so the constant flow of tourists that have interests in sport and gambling will continue to flow and make the city one of the most vibrant and popular in the world.
