Ford has lost $6 billion on EVs over three years but hopes to someday reach profit margins of 8% on EVs and 10% company-wide. Good luck with that.

Now the losses are resulting in mass layoffs, the automaker’s latest effort to defray the heavy cost of investing in nonprofitable electric cars.
This latest reduction of Ford’s white-collar workforce includes employees in its electric-vehicle and software side of the business, the company spokesman confirmed.
