IndyCar: Rossi tops Practice 2 crashfest at Road America

As he did in Practice 1, Arrow McLaren’s Alexander Rossi turned the fastest lap at 1m40.9112s to top Practice 2 for the NTT IndyCar race at Road America.

Colton Herta was 2nd fastest, 0.1472s behind, before he spun off at Canada Corner. The American’s session was not without incident after he ran into a moveable signboard and ended up in the sand with eleven minutes to go in the session.

Rossi’s teammate, Felix Rosenqvist, was third, 0.34s behind his teammate.

Dale Coyne Racing’s David Malukas was strong again today. 2nd in Practice 1, and today he was a respectable 4th.

Marcus Armstrong rounded out the top-5 as the fastest Ganassi Honda runner.

They could not stop bouncing off the walls and each other in Detroit, and they blamed the bumpy track there. Today at Road America in NTT INDYCAR Series practice, they were spinning and crashing left and right on the smooth, resurfaced track.

The session ended early when Simon Pagenaud, driver of the No 60 AutoNation/SiriusXM entry for MSR, made contact with the barrier in Turn 14 with two minutes to go in the session,

Crashing out was Scott Dixon, Will Power, and Alex Palou, all damaging their cars on one, two, three, or all four corners.

“I was just trying to push to see where the limit was,” Palou said. “I didn’t wanna crash, obviously, hopefully, we have enough time [to fix it] as the guys are going to have to work a lot now. It’s not ideal, we lose a new tire run, but the car is fast.”

Will Power got into a shoving match with Scott Dixon outside their damaged vehicles at Canada Corner.

The frustrated Aussie was visibly upset with the incident as he tried to put his hands around the Kiwi’s neck and kicked at a piece of debris on the ground.
