Team Penske Memorial Day Weekend Race Sweep

It’s a Memorial Day weekend for the history books with an unprecedented Team Penske sweep of two marquee motorsports events – the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600.

Ryan Blaney and No. 12 BODYARMOR Cherry Lime Camo Ford led 163 laps in route to a dominate victory of Monday’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The win marks Ryan’s eighth career victory and first triumph of the season, plus moves him one step closer to punching his ticket to the 2023 NASCAR Playoffs with only 12 races remaining in regular season competition.

The win comes nearly 24 hours following Josef Newgarden’s Indianapolis 500 victory which saw the Team Penske driver make history as he crossed the bricks and became the first Nashville, Tennessee, native to win the ‘Greatest Spectacle in Racing’.

Mother nature delayed the start of NASCAR’s longest mileage race of the season, so the NASCAR Cup Series field took the green flag late Monday afternoon with Blaney lining up eighth to conquer 600 miles. He found his way to the lead in each of the race’s four 100-lap Stages, notching his first Stage win of 2023 at the conclusion of Stage three. The driver of the No. 12 set the tone for the remainder of the race, then crossed the line ahead of Team Hendrick’s William Byron to score his first victory at Charlotte Motor Speedway in 13 starts there.

Blaney’s teammates were collected in incidents at the end of the race, relegating them to finishes of 21st (Logano) and 31st (Cindric). Overall, the results catapulted Ryan Blaney to second in the unofficial NASCAR Cup Series points standings, with Joey Logano and Austin Cindric settling into 14th and 21st respectively.

We could not be more thrilled to share this incredible moment with you all, and we look forward to continue building off the momentum that this weekend has brought our team. We’ll keep pressing forward!
