IndyCar: Armed Forces Qualifying Day Morning Report from IMS

The sun is shinning, but the all too familiar sound of the trucks drying the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway is all we can hear right now.   Rain fell right after the track activities stopped yesterday and continued heavily through the night.

The practice sessions that are scheduled for 8:30 to 9:30 am are not looking very favorable for gaining information due to the cooler temperatures in the low 50s this morning.

Drivers that were asked yesterday if they would be going out for the half hour practice session responded that they were probably not going to go out.

But today,  there are some drivers going out for an installation lap only.

The No 77 Juncos Hollinger Racing Chevrolet will benefit from some practice time today, since the team decided to build Callum Ilott a new car and started with a new chassis.

Ryan Hunter-Reay, driver of the No. 23 Dreyer & Reinbold Racing Chevrolet, will be the first one to qualify at 11 am today.  Temperatures will be cooler today, with the high only predicted to be 68 degrees by 5 pm.
