IndyCar: Overheard at Long Beach
–by Mark Cipolloni–
A couple of tidbits heard in the Long Beach paddock this weekend.
Arrow McLaren was going to build a new USA team headquarters in Indianapolis, but now may buy Andretti Autosport’s existing facility once the new huge Andretti facility is ready in Fishers, Indiana to the NE of Indianapolis.
Another rumor involving the Arrow McLaren team is that they are looking to possibly expand to a 4-car team in 2024.
Andretti Global and Cadillac are two weeks away from their final proposal being due to the FIA for their effort to enter a team in F1. The FIA due date is April 30th.
Ryan Hunter-Reay, in from Fort Lauderdale, Florida after heavy rains delayed his departure, was on the Peacock broadcast for Practice 2 on Saturday morning as a TV analyst and did an excellent job. As RHR is starting to think about retirement in a few years, might he be looking at a post-driving career as a TV announcer? We think he would make an excellent addition to the broadcast booth.
It is still early in the season for Silly Season to start and, as there always are, a slew of Ride Buyers will emerge from Europe later in the summer.
