Formula One is back in Australia for the third Grand Prix of the year as day one saw over 60,000 people arrive for their first taste of what has been dubbed the fastest race in Melbourne ever.

Thousands have already arrived before the gates open on Friday morning for two practice sessions at 12:30 pm and again at 4 pm.

Close to 100,000 are expected for Friday.

The FIA has clarified the rule about serving a time penalty on pit road during the race after the Fernando Alonso controversy.

Now the rule says no one or any equipment may touch the car until the entire time penalty has been served.
