F1: FIA bans past-race pit wall fencing climbing

The FIA have decided to ban the traditional post race pitwall celebrations on safety grounds.

The directive put out in Melbourne read: “it is forbidden to climb on the pit wall debris fence at any time.

“Anyone who does so would risk a penalty.”

They referenced existing Appendix H, Article 2.3.2 of the FIA’s International Sporting Code that was not enforced until now.

Team members will still be allowed to lean out gaps in the fencing used for pit boards.
